On a quiet Friday in mid-October, Ben Lukes’ phone nearly melted down with texts. And then more texts. He and co-brewer David Lange had just won a major award.

One gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival® is an outstanding accomplishment, something Perry Street Brewing captured in 2016 for their Session India Pale Lager. The second such medal draped over the Pioneer boombox above the bar is the “holy grail” of sorts: Gold in Category 57 – American-Style India Pale Ale (or IPA). This year 355 of the best breweries in the land vied to be named the best IPA in America, the mother of all medals. In the end it was Perry Street Brewing standing atop the podium. “Shocked” was Ben’s response. The immediate result? Demand for their IPA has increased by 6x with fans from all over the country filling growlers of Perry Street’s coveted beer.

Brick West Brewing
Get Right Gose

The editors at Craft Beer & Brewing said it best: “It seems impossible that Brick West has only been around for a year.” And yet, amongst the best beers on the planet, sits an extraordinary beer in a style unfamiliar to some.
Get Right Gose, a German style beer featuring unique herb and salt characteristics, and its national attention speaks to Brick West Brewing’s quality. Moreover, according to GM Brian Carpenter, such recognition represents “a lot of eyes turning to Spokane’s beer scene,” bringing attention to the entire landscape of local ale excellence.
